In 2001, Center for freshwater aquatic breeding project was intensive cotton snakehead fish (in the extension program) in an area of ​​5,500 m2 in three households in KhanhThuy (Yen Khanh). Fish was released on 11-5, with 6 shrimp/m2 density, stockingnumbers are 33,000 children, encouraging sizes 20 to 25 gr / con. After 4 months of fishfarming has reached far from the 700 gram weight - 1100 g / fish. Estimated rate of80% raw fish, the fish get the whole project is 19,218 kg. If calculated for 1 ha, the yieldobtained is 34.9 tons, is sold at 60,000 VND / kg, the value obtained for nearly 2 billion /ha. Cost (to buy food - trash, drug and chemical disinfection pond ...) out of about600,000 to 700,000 VND / ha, the remaining farmers over 1 billion VND / ha. This is fornew species to the northern provinces, easy breeding, short, culture is in many differentecological zones, easy consumption and high economic value.

Expected in 2012, the Center will implement the project "Application of Science and Technology snakehead fish seed production of cotton by means of artificial reproduction," the aim of the seed source, seed quality, seed quality and low cost of seed for the people in the province.
